Look back at Children’s Mental Health Week 2017

For Children’s Mental Health Week 2017, Place2Be encouraged everyone to ‘Spread a Little Kindness’.

As simple as it sounds, kind gestures can make all the difference when people are going through tough times, and we were delighted to see so many children, young people and adults alike getting involved and supporting the campaign.

Schools had the exciting opportunity to be part of Place2Be's Big Assembly at Mitchell Brook Primary School, attended by Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and supported by Heads Together. The Duchess presented the first Kindness Cup during the event and Place2Be Partner Schools across the country continue to award their own to pupils who have shown exceptional kindness.

Place2Be also published the results of two new surveys. In the first, over 700 Year 6 pupils shared their thoughts on their worries and the importance of kindness. In the second, launched in partnership with the National Association of Head Teachers (NAHT), 1,115 school leaders talked to us about the challenges of supporting the mental health of their pupils.

You can still download our kindness resources for schools and youth groups, and parents and carers on the Children’s Mental Health Week website.
