Sale Sharks and Place2Be launch new programme to help young people ‘find their brave’

Young people will get the opportunity to understand the importance of resilience and good mental wellbeing with ‘Find Your Brave’, a new schools’ programme from Sharks Community Trust.

As part of Children’s Mental Health Week, Sharks Community Trust and Place2Be are launching a new ‘Find Your Brave’ programme for young people in Manchester and North West primary schools.

The programme will help young people understand the importance of resilience and good mental wellbeing.  Each school will be offered a whole school assembly, a classroom session and an outside tag rugby session.

Catherine Roche, Chief Executive of Place2Be said:

''We are excited to launch the next phase of our partnership with Sale Sharks. The team’s support is already helping to shine a light on our work to improve children’s mental health in schools in the North West and across the UK''

This new community outreach programme will be of great value to our partner schools, and will spread a message that whether you are a successful rugby star or an eight year old child, it is OK to talk about your feelings and ask for help when you need it Catherine Roche, Chief Executive of Place2Be

To launch this exciting project a number of high-profile Sale Sharks players joined Sharks Community Trust, Place2Be and a number of Salford school children to a launch event at AJ Bell Stadium. The pupils had the chance to tour the home of Sale Sharks, play some Tag Rugby and meet some Sale Sharks players.

Alison Warwood, Sharks Community Trust Executive Director, said:

“Find Your Brave is an innovative new project that will be delivered by the dedicated schools department within Sharks Community Trust with the aim of strengthening the work currently being done around mental well-being.

As a club, we’re committed to ensuring rugby can play its part in social change and we are excited for the impact that this project will have. To partner with Sale Sharks and their charity partner, Place2Be is an exciting opportunity for the Trust and one which we are eager to start.
