How we connect: social action

Place2Be Ambassador, podcaster and journalist Josh Smith, visited two secondary schools to ask students about the different ways they connect, and how connections can impact their mental health and wellbeing.

In this video, Josh asks the young people about how volunteering, social action and advocacy can bring people together.

After watching this video, you may want to have a discussion as a class about social action and volunteering. Here are a few suggested discussion points and questions:

  • What are some of the barriers and facilitators to volunteering – especially for people in your age group?
  • What opportunities are there at school, and beyond, to volunteer?
  • What are the benefits of volunteering?
